I did not know that it was possible to have an application for an apartment denied because you drive an "Unaesthetic Vehicle"... But after going to look at a 2 bedroom apartment for my family, and finding this community that was in our price range, on the way out of the office to go physically look at the apartment, Lucy, rather rudely, pointed out our Ford Explorer and asked if it was our vehicle as it was the only one parked in the office parking area. I said that yes it was and explained that it was one of our two and the other was a Chevy Colorado, and she continued to explain that we would not be allowed to rent an apartment there because that vehicle would not be allowed on the property because it would be out side of the 'Tenant Selection Criteria' and categorized as an "unaesthetic vehicle"... Of course this made my blood boil, but managed to bite my tongue and keep my husband reined in... We work day in and day out to afford to take care of our son, vehicles, bills, and everything else... We do not ask for help, nor are we on any government aide currently... We may struggle but we manage to hold our own and make a point to always pay rent in full and on time... I do not understand how not being able to drive a pretty shiny car should automatically disqualify us from being able to get an apartment in our price range that will fit our families needs... After this experience I have absolutely no desire to have any thing to do with the people that run this site... I did not think it was possible to be profiled and discriminated against because we drive what we can afford and choose not to put our selves in more debt that we can handle, especially with the economy struggling the way that it is...
