Apartment Review
do not live here

the location close to uptown is appealing, along with the "uptown" cheap rent prices, but it's not worth it....at all. i have lived at the AMLI for over a year and can't get out of there fast enough. at first the complex seems great -- very large, amazing pool area, seemingly friendly staff, quiet neighbors. then the honeymoon stage wears off and you realize what you've gotten yourself into: -office staff is friendly...until you have a complaint about something legitimate or a concern (crime, security, etc.). I had multiple noise complaints about a neighbor and the office did nothing about it, except give him slaps on the wrist. after i complained about it, they were RUDE to me, would avoid my phone calls, act snippy if i came in the office, etc. it's ridiculous. -pool area is nice, if you want to flash back to spring break trips to mexico with an MTV beach party theme and have about 100 residents down there blaring music from huge speakers, smoking weed, and playing floating beer pong. i didn't know i had moved in to the frat house at SMU. hot tub was broken and freezing cold about 95% of the time and when it wasn't freezing cold, it was about 200 degrees and too hot to sit in. -crime here is ri.dic.u.lous. hallways are too long and creepy, too much resemblance to "the shining". we had MULTIPLE car break-ins, apartment burgularies, and even incidents of people getting mugged in the middle of the hallways and having their possessions stolen. i had to move apartments because of crime and security issues. and when that happened, management seemed like it was hell on earth to try to make that happen for me. i had to fight tooth and nail with them. eventually, i won. -security gates don't really do much when there are many other entrance gates and doors into the parking garages and complex from the highway for the mulitude of bums and homeless people to walk through and around the complex. the whole area surrounding the complex is straight ghetto. the gas station is swamped with beggers, shopping center accross the street is nasty and disgusting. the fact that it was about 2 minutes from the west village was my only favorite part of the whole area... but even then... it still wasn't worth it. -overall, you can find a cheaper apartment in someplace like 5 more miles up hwy 75 and actually live in uptown. that would have been the smarter decision about a year ago, but instead, we got sucked in by the glitz and glamour and convienent location off the highway. don't live here unless you are: A.) in a frat or soriety and want to play with all the other 20-somethings that party all the time and leave beer bottles everywhere (next to puke piles in the garage). B.) also a really loud obnoxious neighbor that won't mind other loud neighbors C.) a street bum that will probably spend time there anyway in the parking garage D.) want to be miserable and not taken care of by the staff and security team.
