Greenway Parks Neighborhood

Greenway Parks has been a beautiful neighborhood since its inception in the early 1900's. Envisioned as an English-style neighborhood, built around a green, Greenway Parks has lived up to its creator's dreams and more. Flourishing all through the 1900's, Greenway Parks has never undergone the slow decline that plagues many older neighborhoods. There have been approximately 9 new homes built in the neighborhood in the past few years, the rest of the 300 homes that make up the area are original to the neighborhood, though some have undergone extensive renovations. Greenway Parks offers an incredible lifestyle, with some of the most interesting architecture and home design within the Metroplex.

A Neighborhood Built Around Parks

Greenway Parks gets its name and fame from the greensward or parks that run through the first four blocks of the area. These parks are centered around the houses and the front doors originally opened onto the parks, rather than onto the streets. The back of the house (street side) was originally the service entrance only. These park areas gave the area is character and personality. A communal area for picnics and play, just outside the doors of the homes had a big impact on the way the neighborhood developed as well as its enduring popularity.

Enduring Popularity

Greenway Parks is one of the few older neighborhoods never to have gone through a decline in popularity, living conditions or prosperity. The area has become so well loved by its residents that some of the homes are actually handed down through families, generations growing up in a house, moving away, then moving back and raising their own children within its walls. Some families only move within the neighborhood, trading up in home size or down, as the family's needs change. The homes in the neighborhood run the gamut from fanciful 1920's creations to Tudors and bungalows, but they are all well maintained and are snatched up almost as soon as they go on the market. The enduring popularity of this neighborhood is a testament to the vision of the builders.

A Gateway to Dallas

It's hard to imagine a neighborhood better situated to provide amenities to its residents. Greenway Parks allows residents to access everything that the Metroplex has to offer, from national sporting events with the Cowboys, Stars and Mavericks to incredible music concerts, an amazing art scene and the vibrant mix of cultures that has infused the city of Dallas. While there are no restaurants or amusement parks within Greenway Parks itself, the residents like it that way. With the amazing homes and fantastic greenbelts, it's no wonder that the residents don't want or care to have anything else within the confines of their neighborhood.
