Downtown Dallas; Live, Work, Play

Downtown Dallas is a unique place to live, work and play. You can find clubs, shops, apartments, lofts, restaurants, parks and more, all within the confines of downtown Dallas. The area is famed for its dedication to the arts, that dedication is evidenced through the number of art galleries, and thriving culture that downtown Dallas possesses. Downtown Dallas is a distinct area, bounded by the loop formed by I-45, US 75, I-35 East, I-30 and SH Spur 366.

The loop forms the defining line that surrounds the downtown area. Within that loop, you'll find eight distinct districts; the Arts District, City Center District, Convention Center District, Farmers Market District, Government District, Main Street District, Reunion District and West End Historic District. Each area is named for the primary aspect or identifying feature of the district, though you'll find many things that exist in all of these districts. You'll find many clubs, restaurants, mixed use buildings that house residents, businesses and shops, cafes, boutiques, apartments and more in all of these districts. DART, Dallas' rapid transit system runs through all of these districts, allowing residents easy access to everywhere without having to fight traffic.

Getting around Dallas is easy, whether you drive or take DART, though DART promises easier access to many of the city's districts and attractions without the hassle of finding a place to park in a city of millions. The loop that surrounds the downtown area allows residents and visitors access to major interstate highways that run to all points of the compass, Interstates 10, 30, 35 East and 40 all pass through the city like spokes in a wagon wheel and carry traffic out to Dallas' suburbs and beyond. Within the loop, the easiest way to get around is through DART, but the city offers biking and walking areas for those who are conservation minded or just want to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

There are two major airports that serve downtown Dallas, neither is located in the downtown district but both offer quick access for those needing to commute to the airports. Dallas/Ft Worth International Airport is the most famous, but Dallas Love Field also servers commuter lines. There is another airport, Dallas Executive Airport, which serves as a general aviation field for the city.

Downtown Dallas is mix of old and new, you'll find historic brick buildings that have been converted into restaurants, shops and loft apartments standing next to brand new skyscrapers that house business headquarters and residents. Dallas' makeup is unique and offers residents many opportunities for work and play.
